Going on...

So, it's been 5 weeks since I decided to leave my beloved and hated Israel... yes.. it is a "love~hate" relationship I have with the country I call "my soul home". Don't get me wrong, I love Israel.... I just don't manage with the ppl that well. And as much as I love my job and working with all the people there.... there is no "going up" from what I do.... and I am just not someone who is happy with "being a secretary" all my life.

I love to deal with people, animals and have action. I have to say, I am positive surprised by the amount of good-wishers I have. It makes me go that extra step and I know, that I am doing the right thing.

Yes it is risky and who knows what might happen, but isn't life about "taking risks"? Funny enough that everyone is sooo sure that I'll be selling my house very fast... just not the Realtors... how come? Well, if I can sell the house privately, even better.

So for now, I am just working, cleaning out stuff and make a lot of research about B'more, shops, suppliers, movers and what ever else that I can find. Lets be very optimistic and hope, that next Pessah I'll be saying "le'chaim" in B'more in my own house and in my own shop!

Welcome to Baltimore

First you must learn to pronounce the city name.... It is Bawl-mer or Ball-tee-more, depending on if you live north or south of Rt. 40.

Next, if your road map is more than a few weeks old, throw it out and buy a new one. If it is a Howard County map and is a day old it is already obsolete.

On Monday you don't wash your clothes, you warsh them. Before you eat a meal you don't wash your hands, you warsh them in wooder.

Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere, Baltimore has its own version of traffic rules...."Hold on & pray." There is no such thing as a dangerous high-speed chase in Baltimore ... we all drive like that.

All directions start with... "The Beltway...."....which has no beginning and no end. The morning rush hour is from 6am to 11am, the evening rush hour is from 1pm to 7pm... Friday's rush hour starts Thursday morning.

If you actually stop at a yellow light you will be rear ended, cussed out, and possibly shot. When you are the first one on the starting line, count to 5 when the light turns green before going to avoid crashing into all 5 drivers running the red light in cross-traffic. However, if you don't go as soon as it turns green, you get the finger, a blowing horn, or both.

Construction on I-97 is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment. Interesting that it's called an "interstate," it runs only from the Beltway to Annapolis. Opening in 1992, it has been torn up and under re-construction ever since. (Does former Gov. Glendenning have any relatives who build highways?)

All unexplained sights are explained by the phrase "Oh, we're in GLIMBURNIE!"

If someone actually has their turn signal on it is probably a factory defect. Car horns are actually "Road Rage" indicators. All old ladies with blue hair and Buicks have the right of way. PERIOD

All roads mysteriously change their names as you cross intersections. A trip across town (north to south) will take a minimum of four hours, although the tunnel does have, on occasion, more than one lane open. But never on holiday weekends.

The minimum acceptable speed on the Beltway is 85mph, anything less is considered downright sissy. The Beltway is our daily version of NASCAR.

If the humidity is 98+ and the temperature is 98+ it's May/June/July/August/September. If it is 10 degrees, it is Orioles Opening Day. If it is 110 degrees, it is opening day at Ravens Stadium.

If you go to a football game, pay the $75.00 to park in the "Ravens Lot." Parking elsewhere could cost up to $7500.00 for damages, towing fees, parking tickets, etc.

If some guy with a flag tries to get you to park in his yard during Preakness ... run over him! It's probably not his yard anyway.

You Know You're From Baltimore When...

1. You could pick crabs before you could walk.

2. From snow to hurricanes to heat waves, you've seen every kind of weather imaginable.

3. 695 gets you everywhere.

4. You stress the "Oh" in the U.S. National Anthem.

5. It's "DC", not "Washington"; "Hopkins", not "Johns Hopkins", and "goin' downa' ocean" means you're off to Ocean City, Bethany, or Rehoboth.

6. You've had relatives imprisoned at Ft. McHenry.

7. Half your high school graduating class went to College Park.

8. The opening of a Wegman's was the greatest thing to happen to your city in ten years.

9. You put Old Bay on everything.

10. You hate the Yankees, the Steelers, and especially the Colts.

11. The murder rate is higher than the graduation rate.

12. You can go 1 inch beyond the city line and know that you're out of the city.

13. You don't wash your clothes, you "warsh" them.

14. You can pronounce "Havre de Grace." (Not the French way, the Baltimore way.)

15. You've gotten lost and ended up in the projects.

16. You know that The Power Plant is not for the production of electricity.

17. You're pissed off that we have to share our only airport with DC (I mean, don't they already have 2?)

18. You remember when the Orioles were good.

19. You say "wuder", not "water".

20. On September 11, when you heard terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center, you thought they meant the tower by the Harbor.

21. You know where to get the best crabs, crab cakes, and crab soup.

22. You eat snowballs, not throw them.

23. Cal Ripken was your childhood hero.

24. You're considered a Southerner when visiting New England, and you're a Yankee when visiting the South.

25. Distance is measured in minutes.

26. You know when to avoid the Bay Bridge.

27. Every one of your parents' childhood memories revolves around a Colts game.

28. A Berger is not something you grill.

29. Your Senator's website features a recipe for crabcakes.

30. You can spot a Baltimore accent immediately.

31. You watch a John Waters or Barry Levinson movie and recognize someone.

32. Artscape is the event of the season.

33. Five homicides is a good day for your town.

34. Lacrosse ain't no city in Wisconsin.

35. School is out when there's an inch of snow, but when you can't get out of your driveway you somehow have to go.

36. You know what Natty Boh is.

37. The idea of crabs without Old Bay makes you sick.

38. You think living 45 minutes from the nation's capital, 1.5 hours from Philadelphia, and 3.5 hours from New York City is the greatest thing in the world.

39. You think HBO's "The Wire" isn't violent enough.

40. Your car has a bumper sticker that says "BLIEVE HON"

41. The Washington Monument in your city is not a white obelisk.

42. You go to The Fudgery at The Harborplace just to hear singing.

43. You didn't realize that horses race at Preakness.

44. You leave the U.S. and people ask you where you're from, you reply "near Washington" to avoid confusion.

45. You love your city and share this group with all your friends from Baltimore.

Baltimore.. woooooooohoooooooo!

Shana Tova!!! 5769 :)

Well.. it's not "New Year 2009".. but it's the Jewish New Year.. which means.. we are sooo ahead of you guys.. rofls.. ;)

Alright.... it's not been a full year when I last made a list with what I want to achieve in 2008... sadly.. I hardly managed a thing.....

So.. lets look back...

My plans for 2008:

  • Go to the wedding of my good old friend Kyung Ah in Seattle.. yay.. can't wait.. and even if I have to swim… to make it… I find a way.. I promise

Sadly I am not able to go... Kyung Ah is getting married this weekend... actually in 2 days... Girl.. I am sooooooooooooooooooooo happy for you..... and I am there... even if only in my thoughts... but I love you and I am so happy for you and I will walk around with a big smile that day.. knowing.. that after all.. there might be someone our there who is just right for me too.. ;)

  • Finally meeting my smart blonde Lawyer from NYC in person (could he be Mr. Right???)

Well.. never met him... we might meet once I move to the US.. but is he Mr. Right? no! Can he become a real good friend? Absolutely!:)

  • Run the New York City Marathon (yes.. this year… I will.. hopefully)

Has to wait another year.... but then.. I might be too busy with the Ironman training... yes... I am going to try once more... I want to fulfill at least THIS dream of mine.. and run in Hawaii..... and even if it is the last thing I do.. and they have to scrap me off the street.... rofls..

  • Go to NYC to find the perfect pair of shoes and the perfect dress to go with and then "strut" to the Premiere of SatC the Movie

Ok, it wasn't NY and it wasn't the super perfect outfit.. but.. the most sexy shoes.. hahaha Prada and all.. and.. we gals just had fun.... Talhy and Gali out .. hahaha.. two blondes in the city.. oho...

  • Apply to F.I.T.

That will have to wait too... if it ever happens... looking into design schools right now at B'more and Sarasota....

  • Lose another 20 pounds

Trying... honestly.. trying..... I wanna be around 110 lbs when I move next year... lets see..

Alright... time for new goals for 5769:

  • Swimming, running and biking... aka.. getting in shape for some "smaller" Triathlons .. and then the big ones...
  • Keeping my weight (or have a bit less than now)
  • Flying to the US to check where I will move at the end...
  • Selling my house in Yaffo for a goooooooooood price ;)
  • Getting my Papers together for the E-2 Visa
  • Opening my own Shop.... what it will be.. we shall see... I'll keep you posted
  • Starting over once again..... hey.. they say 3 is the charm.. so lets see... if this is true...

So you see.... this year... will be a busy .... and hopefully fun year... of course I will miss my old job.. the people I work with... especially my great Boss Barbara :) But.. if not now.. when... ?? right??? It's the time for something new.. we ain't getting any younger ladies.... these are the years...

Oh and about finding Mr. Right..... I put that on "pause"..... I don't believe in Mr. Right any longer.... no such thing (just like Soulmates... they might exist.. but it usually doesn't work out with them, only because the soul is "a mate" doesn't make the rest of the person a good "mate" too)... (don't think I am bitter)... no.. not at all... I do believe .. there is a guy out there.. who is just right for me... but he is not going to be "Mr. Right".. but he might become "Mr. Muus" someday... lol.... and THAT ... is soooooooooooo much better ;)

Happy Everything

Yes friends... long time since I updated my blog.. shame on me... but I had no internet.. and then no power to write...

But now.. at the end of the year I feel that I owe it to my Blog... a little review of 2007.

I don't even remember how my year started to be fully honest, all I do remember is.. that in February I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I answered an Ad on CL … I didn't even plan to, but I just thought it would be funny. The guy, lets call him "Mr. X." put an ad to "find his besherte"… gosh I was an Idiot… well my close friends know the story.. and there is no need to get into details here… anyways.. I guess in 2007 I got not only older but finally also a little wiser (at least when it comes to men).

I had two break-ins in just 3 weeks and they dog-napped Tasha… but I got her back after 10 days of going crazy. As much as my dogs make me mad.. I would not want to miss them…. I do love them very much.. after all, they are all I have.

At the end of the year I even found a nice job at a big law firm. I love the view and the people are great and my boss is fun to work with.
During the last few months (well actually from Summer till Fall), I lost over 50 pounds… and I still keep it… yes.. very proud.. that my clothes from Miami fit again… haha.

A friend of mine got married… and divorced in less than 6 months (yeah that was fast… and I did give her about 6 months…) (yup.. I am an "oracle"… rofl). Another couple is expecting twins.. yeah… can't wait to see them… two blonde boys… (well lets hope for the mom they will be blonde.. lol) but another couple will be leaving me and Israel for good next spring.. *snief snief*…
And I lost someone I really cared for. I messed it up badly and I did hurt him quite a bit. So I want to say again, how sorry I am about it all... (if he ever comes across this blog, he will know.. )

My plans for 2008:

  • Go to the wedding of my good old friend Kyung Ah in Seattle.. yay.. can't wait.. and even if I have to swim… to make it… I find a way.. I promise

  • Finally meeting my smart blonde Lawyer from NYC in person (could he be Mr. Right???)

  • Run the New York City Marathon (yes.. this year… I will.. hopefully)

  • Go to NYC to find the perfect pair of shoes and the perfect dress to go with and then "strut" to the Premiere of SatC the Movie

  • Apply to F.I.T.

  • Lose another 20 pounds

Yup I guess that is about what I try to achieve next year :)

Well, I hope I am able to update my blog again a bit more.. but for now... I wish you all

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw will be together again, this time on the big screen.

Actor Chris Noth will return as Sarah Jessica Parker's love interest when "Sex and the City" goes to the big screen.

Chris Noth, who played Sarah Jessica Parker's love interest on HBO's "Sex and the City," is slated to reprise his role in a feature film spun from the long-running TV series.

Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon will also reprise their roles for the romantic comedy, to be distributed by New Line Cinema in association with HBO.

"There is no need for funeral arrangements," said Michael Patrick King, who will direct the film. "I assure you that Mr. Big is a very 'big' part of the 'Sex and the City' movie."

"While I have not spoken to him myself, Chris Noth assures me that Mr. Big is alive and well and ready to report to the set in September," King said in a statement Wednesday.

King was one of the executive producers of the TV series, which ended in 2004.

Noth, 50, plays police Detective Mike Logan on NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

HBO is a unit of Time Warner Inc. New Line Cinema is a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc., the parent company of CNN.

Where Are You Destined to Live?

New York
You're totally a big city type. This place is a lot of hustle and bustle because you want to rule the world and there aren't enough hours in the day to do it. Sure, it's stressful, but if you've got what it takes to make here you know that you can make it anywhere!

What Type of Person Will You Marry?

Someone with Personality
Yeah, dating someone who is drop dead gorgeous is fun, but in the end you're going to find people with a sense of humor are a lot more entertaining. Instead of looking in the mirror all the time, they're going to be looking right at you. Better yet, they're going to love making you smile. Whether it's a funny joke or a charming, unexpected date, this person will know just how to keep you interested and entertained. So look past the peacock to find your prince or princess, you might find that what a person has on the inside is a lot more worth while then what you can see on the outside.
